Texas Sport Aircraft Company Delivers First CUB Kit To International Destination

SULPHUR SPRINGS, TEXAS, FEBRUARY 16, 2009 -- Texas Sport Aircraft Company announced today its first international customer delivery of a Texas Sport aircraft kit. The Texas Sport kit is an amateur-built aircraft based on the widely recognized CUB aircraft. It is similar to the J-3, PA-11, and PA-18 Piper Cubs, and it incorporates modern features of today's Legend Cub. The Texas Sport kit was delivered to an experienced amateur aircraft builder in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Texas Sport Aircraft Company's first international customer, Luiz Claudio Goncalves, General Manager of FLYER Industria Aeronautica Ltda., acknowledged receipt of his crated Texas Sport kit. Claudio commented on its arrival, "I hope this finds you well. We just received the CUB kit. The quality of the kit exceeded our expectations. Our commendations to your factory and its staff." As an amateur-built aircraft, the Texas Sport requires more than 51-percent of the fabrication to be performed by the builder. Claudio is an experienced builder of kit aircraft having bought, produced, and sold numerous kit aircraft. FLYER also provides flight training and aircraft support services. The company has representatives throughout Brazil.

Similar to the popular Legend Cub certified light-sport aircraft, the Texas Sport was designed with an electrical system. This provides for an electric starter and the ability to equip the aircraft with electrically powered instruments, avionics, and lighting. Additionally, the Texas Sport was designed to be flown solo from either the front or rear seat. It stores fuel it its dual wing tanks, which provide extended range over traditional Cubs. The Texas Sport can be flown with doors and windows open, and it uniquely offers doors and windows on both sides of the aircraft giving it a true open cockpit feel.

Designed in the spirit of the legendary Piper J-3 Cub, today's Legend Cub and Texas Sport combine the best of the J-3, PA-11, and PA-18 designs. Both utilize a J-3 wing design, PA-11 struts, and outboard wing attachments like the PA-18 Super Cub. Today, a 3-inch wider cockpit provides increased elbowroom and pilot comfort. The Texas Sport comes with a choice of PA-11 style closed cowl or J-3 style "eyebrows." A choice of engines includes a Continental 100-horsepower or Jabiru 120-horsepower models.

The Texas Sport appeals to recreational flyers of all ages in all areas of the world. From their originally American roots, Cubs are recognized and popular around the world. Many of these aircraft were used in liaison roles during World War II. As a result, many Cubs were abandoned across Europe after the war ended. These aircraft are also well adapted to flying in remote environs. They can be found in Africa, Canada, on remote Islands, in South and Central America, and in Asia. The appeal of the Cub is truly worldwide, perhaps because it is a pleasure to fly, and equally so because it has proven the test of time.
